Press Release|

KALISPELL — After the first day of play in the 30th edition of the Governors’ Cup Golf Tournament in the Flathead, Glacier Bank and PacificSource Health Plans lead the field in lowest gross and lowest net. The Governors’ Cup is the largest business sporting event in the state, sponsored by the Montana Chamber Foundation.

The lowest net and lowest gross scores after two days of play are named the winners of the Governors’ Cup. After the first day of play, Glacier Bank led the lowest gross field, shooting a 55, and PacificSource Health Plans commanded the competition shooting a 47 in the lowest net category.

This year, nearly 400 players on 79 teams turned out to play on golf courses at Eagle Bend in Bigfork, Buffalo Hill in Kalispell and Meadow Lake in Columbia Falls.

“We are so happy to celebrate the 30th year of the Governors’ Cup this year in the Flathead,” said Ed Bartlett, the Governors’ Cup manager. “Everyone had a great day of golf, camaraderie and truly enjoyed the beauty of the Flathead. This is a wonderful event that raises money for the Montana Chamber Foundation’s efforts and provides great business networking.”

Rounding out the top three in lowest gross were Mountain Lake Lodge (57) and VITU (58). Trailing in lowest net was Puget Sound Energy (48) and Republic Services (48.20) in third.

The Governors’ Cup is one of Montana’s premier networking opportunities, co-hosted by all the Treasure State’s past governors. Former Govs. Marc Racicot and Stan Stephens were in attendance at the weekend events, which also included recognition of former Governor Judy Martz.

The Governors’ Cup will continue tomorrow for its second and final day at 8 a.m. For more information, visit www.2018GovernorsCup.com. The event is an important part of Envision 2026, the ten-year strategic plan of the Montana Chamber, by promoting a positive business climate.
