Montana Chamber of Commerce Statement on Work Comp Cost Reductions

HELENA — The Montana Chamber of Commerce released the following statement after news of reduced workers compensation rates from the Montana State Fund.

Today, the Montana State Fund approved an 8.6 percent overall rate reduction in worker’s compensation costs for its policyholders. This marks the 13th consecutive year that rates have remained flat or declined. Insurance Commissioner Matt Rosendale, in conjunction with rate filings by the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI), recently approved the largest average decrease in worker’s compensation premiums for Montana businesses since 2011.

“We are pleased to see that Montana businesses are putting safety first,” said Cary Hegreberg, president/CEO of the Montana Chamber of Commerce. “Workplace safety is important to ensure a healthy work environment and creates an attractive business climate in Montana. The premium reductions is a reflection of improving safety culture in our state.”
