Press Release|

Governors_Cup_2017KALISPELL – The 29th annual Montana Chamber and Governors’ Cup golf tournament wrapped up July 29 in the Flathead Valley.

After the two-day competition Glacier Bank earned first place gross score team honors with a low score of 113 and Perceptive Software earned first place net score team honors of 98.90.

“Once again we had tremendous support from sponsors and teams who enjoyed the tournament and opportunity to network,” Governors’ Cup Manager Kerry Schaefer said. “The tournament host courses and volunteers worked very hard to continue to make this one of the top business networking events of the year.    It has become a first class experience that everyone looks forward to each summer.”

The festivities kicked off Thursday evening with the Governors’ Reception and Sandbaggers Barbecue at Flathead Valley Community College. A number of policymakers, including former Governor Stan Stephens who started the event, joined business from inside and outside of Montana for the event.

On Friday, 72 teams from Montana, Canada and 25 states turned out for the two-day golf tournament. The teams competed at Eagle Bend Golf Course in Bigfork, Meadow Lake Golf Course in Columbia Falls and Whitefish Lake Golf Course in Whitefish.

All proceeds from the event go to Montana Chamber Foundation programs and the Montana High School Business Challenge. The mission of the Foundation is to “to educate Montanans about the fundamentals of business operations, business needs and responsibilities and contributions of business to society”.

The Governors’ Cup began in 1989 as a way to facilitate business leader contacts and to promote Montana’s growing opportunities for business and investment. With a goal of improving the business climate in the Treasure State, the Governors’ Cup golf tournament fits into the Chambers’ strategic plan, Envision 2026.

Results for the tournament and more information can be found at www.2017governorscup.com.

The 30th anniversary of the Governors’ Cup will be Aug. 2-4, 2018.
