HELENA — On Tuesday, the Blue Wolves squad from Anaconda High School was crowned the Montana Chamber Foundation’s third annual Challenge Bowl winners. The competition tested the business knowledge of students, and rounding out the three top finishers was the Destructors (North Toole County High School) and Boost (Anaconda High School).
“We’d like to extend a big congratulations to the Blue Wolves team from Anaconda High School for being named the 2019 Challenge Bowl champions,” said Todd O’Hair, executive director of the Montana Chamber Foundation. “The High School Business Challenge is a great opportunity for students across Montana to be exposed to business and learn some great skills along the way.”
The Challenge Bowl is an opportunity for the top 16 teams from the spring and fall semester of the High School Business Challenge (HSBC) to go head-to-head and win scholarship money. The HSBC is an eight-week business simulation during the fall and spring semesters where students make business decisions for a company they run. During the Challenge Bowl, students complete four inputs to represent four business quarters.
Scholarships are awarded to all participants in the Challenge Bowl. First place team members receive $1,000 per student; second place, $750 per student; and third place team members each receive $500. Participants not placing in the top three each receive a $100 scholarship. Teams from Dillon Middle School, Billings Skyview High School, Columbia Falls High School, and Melstone High School rounded out the competition.
The HSBC is administered by the Montana Council on Economic Education and scholarships are coordinated by Reach Higher Montana.

The Montana Chamber Foundation, with support from individuals, businesses and foundations, offers the business education competition to any school in Montana interested in bringing their students a real-life simulation that teaches business operations and management. Since the start of the Challenge in 2000, over 20,000 students have participated and over $80,000 in scholarships awarded.
