Billings, MT – Whitewood Transport is excited to announce that Jim Self of Rathdrum, ID has been named
The American Trucking Association’s (ATA) 2022 National Driver of the Year. This prestigious award is
presented to the driver who exemplifies excellence in safety, customer service, and professionalism. Jim was
selected by a panel of judges representing the trucking industry. Prior to winning National Driver of the Year,
Jim was selected as the Montana Trucking Association’s Driver of the Month for September 2021 and Driver
of the Year for 2022. Jim has been driving professionally for 47 years, driving over 6 million miles without an
accident. In addition to his impeccable safety record, Jim is known for his outstanding customer service,
often being requested by name by Whitewood’s customers. He always goes above and beyond to ensure
that his customers’ needs are met and that their freight arrives safely. “I am honored to receive this award,”
said Jim. “Driving is not just a job for me, it’s what I love to do. I take great pride in my work and in providing
the best possible service to our customers. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of not
just myself, but my colleagues at Whitewood and the entire transportation industry.”
As the Driver of the Year, Jim was recognized by the American Trucking Associations Safety Management
Council in Minneapolis MN and will receive further recognition at ATAs Management Conference &
Exhibition (MCE) in Austin, TX on October 14.
