HELENA–– The Montana Chamber Foundation awarded the fourth annual Kelly Kuntz Memorial Scholarship to Morgan Rehm, a Capital High School graduate in Helena and a current student at Carroll College. Rehm is a former participant in the Montana Chamber Foundation’s High School Business Challenge. She will enter her second year at Carroll College this fall and is studying finance.
The $2,000 scholarship is in memory of former Montana Chamber Foundation board member, Kelly Kuntz.
“I called my dad immediately because one, he works for D.A. Davidson and two, he knew Kelly very well,” Rehm said. “I was so happy I won this particular scholarship because I think it meant something almost personal to my dad since he and Kelly were such good friends, and it meant the ideas that I expressed in the essay were acknowledged and praised. Also, I was so pleased to be getting some extra help that’ll go towards my education. … That feeling of your hard work finally paying off and meaning something is one of the best feelings on earth.”
Rehm will be recognized at noon on Aug. 1 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kalispell during the foundation’s 2019 Economic Update Series.
With a focus on Envision 2026, the Montana Chamber’s ten-year strategic plan, scholarship applicants were asked to address what barriers might keep students from staying in Montana to pursue a career of their choice. One reason cited in Rehm’s essay was lower starting salaries for graduates.
The Kuntz scholarship began in 2016 and is awarded annually to continuing college students, with preference being given to former Montana High School Business Challenge students, as well as someone pursuing a business degree.
