News Alert, Press Release|

FAIRMONT — The Montana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently interviewed candidates for statewide and federal offices. Following two days of interviews, the Montana Chamber endorses the following candidates:

U.S. House of Representatives – Greg Gianforte
Gianforte has a strong background in business and an excellent pro-business voting record in his first term as a congressman.

Montana Supreme Court Justice No. 4 – Beth Baker
Baker has a deep respect for the law and the board of directors appreciated her focus on increasing court efficiency. Her tendency to follow the rule of law is underscored in our biennial Judicial Review.

Public Service Commission Seat No. 1 – Doug Kaercher
Kaercher’s vast prior experience underscores the balanced approach he will bring to the Public Service Commission.

Public Service Commission Seat No. 5 – Brad Johnson
Johnson brings a long history of leadership and has a deep understanding of the position.

The Montana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors took no position in the U.S. Senate race. No candidate reached the super majority of votes required for the endorsement.

“We appreciate the candidates taking the time to meet with us and their response to Envision 2026,” said Webb Brown, president/CEO of the Montana Chamber of Commerce. “Everyone had great thoughts on the four core objectives in our ten-year strategic plan.”

The Montana Chamber Board of Directors used the interviews, voting records, position papers and public pronouncements to make its final endorsement decisions.

The Montana Chamber is a separate organization from the U.S. and local chambers of commerce. These endorsements do not reflect the positions of the U.S. nor local chambers of commerce, only the Montana Chamber.
