MISSOULA– Manufacturers, exporters and business leaders from across the Treasure State gathered Tuesday in Missoula for Manufacturing and International Trade Day, hosted by the Montana Manufacturing Association (MMA). The MMA is a subsidiary of the Montana Chamber of Commerce.
During lunch, awards were handed out for the Exporter of the Year and Manufacturer of the Year. Blackhawk! in Manhattan was named the Manufacturer of the Year and SRS Crisafulli in Glendive was awarded the Exporter of the Year.
The luncheon was headlined by Montana native Addie Lordemann, who is now a senior manufacturing engineer at 3M. Lordemann spoke about growing up in eastern Montana and the people in Glendive who impacted her education in high school and at Montana State University. Lordemann shared many words of encouragement for women interested in pursuing careers in manufacturing and her experience working with the STEP Ahead program.
“We are so excited for these two Montana companies that highlight some of the best assets of Montana,” said Alexandria Klapmeier, communications director for the Montana Chamber of Commerce. “Blackhawk! and SRS Crisafulli are great examples of manufacturing and exporting in Montana. They also demonstrate that companies can be successful anywhere in Montana, especially in small communities like Glendive and Manhattan.”
Throughout the day there were several panels that focused on different aspects of manufacturing and exporting which included trade, financing and workforce development. You can learn more about the panels by reading our Top 5 takeaways here.
