Press Release|

MISSOULA– On Wednesday, the STEP Forward MT: Women in Manufacturing conference was an opportunity for leaders in Montana to engage and advance women in manufacturing.

This was the first time the Montana Manufacturing Association, a subsidiary of the Montana Chamber of Commerce, hosted a STEP Forward event in Montana. The event featured Addie Lordemann, a senior manufacturing engineer at 3M who is a Glendive native, and Jackie Clark, the government relations and public relations director for Ash Grove Cement in Montana City. Both women are past STEP Award winners.

The STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Awards recognize women in manufacturing who exemplify leadership within their companies. This national honor identifies the best of the best women in the manufacturing industry, and further encourages women to mentor and support the next generation of female talent to pursue manufacturing careers.

The STEP Forward program focuses on state and company leaders and gives manufacturers an opportunity to raise awareness of their company and manufacturing as a whole by showcasing existing female talent and providing unique leadership opportunities to better retain and develop that talent.

“We are so excited to help kickstart and facilitate this important conversation in Montana,” said Webb Brown, president/CEO of the Montana Chamber of Commerce. “We have some great Montana representation from people like Addie and Jackie. We had great discussions throughout the day and we hope this will spur some more conversation throughout the year.”
