What have we done for you lately?
The Montana Chamber successfully pursued major changes of the last decade, making Montana more competitive and spurring economic growth Total savings: $150 million.
The Montana chamber led efforts to restructure the system that has helped both State Fund and private insurance companies reduce premiums. Our work let to the Old Fund Liability Tax ending a decade earlier than expected. In the 2001 Legislative Session, we led effort to restore exclusive remedy to the system, so you could not be sued for unintentional harm. One settlement prior to our fix, cost $1 million.
The Montana Chamber Filed an amicus brief in the court case Saterlee v. Lumberman's Mutual Casualty Company, which could be a $200+ million hit to the work comp system. We told the Work Comp Court about how much this case would hurt employers who are already paying some of the higher premiums in the country.
The Montana Chamber produces the "Business Review of the Montana Supreme Court" to explain how judicial decisions affect Montana business. We routinely interview candidates for the court. our Montana Liability Coalition capped punitive damages in the 2003 Session. Business Review: $16,000; Nominee Interviews: $1,000; Lawsuit Protection: Priceless.
