On Oct. 2, Governor Steve Bullock declared Oct. 6 at “Manufacturing Day” in Montana.
Manufacturing Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing during which manufacturers invite their communities — including students, educators, business people, media, and politicians — to their facilities in a collective effort to educate visitors about manufacturing career opportunities and improve public perceptions of manufacturing.
“Dear Montana Business Leaders, Entrepreneurs, and Educators:
I am pleased to recognize October 6, 2017 as “Manufacturing Day” in the state of Montana. This is an important opportunity to highlight the manufacturing and tenacity of Montanans from all across the Big Sky State.
Montana’s economy is strong and it’s getting even stronger. We have the 4th highest wage growth in the nation and Montana was named the top state for overall income growth in 2016. Montana also has the 6th best tax climate for businesses and the most entrepreneurs and start-ups per capita in the nation. But most importantly, Montana is now number one is the nation for manufacturing growth. Hard work
and innovation runs through our veins here in Montana and Manufacturing Day is a reminder of the incredible work and ideas being developed by industrious Montanans.
There is always more we can do to continue strengthening our economy and seizing opportunities. When I created the Main Street Montana Project, a private-public partnership, its goals were to build upon our state’s strengths and address challenges. Because of this partnership, Montana colleges and businesses have a pipeline of talent that is ready to work and innovate here in Montana. Montana
manufacturing would not be peaking today without the hard work and incredible ingenuity by Montanans.
When we invest in Montana’s workers, we invest in Montana’s future. I encourage all Montanans to acknowledge October 6, 2017 as “Manufacturing Day” and I congratulate Montana’s workers and manufacturing businesses on their success and growth over this past year.
